Have you heard about the story of the hare and the tortoise? The hare is sexy. The tortoise is not. But the tortoise gets the results in the end; the hare does not.
Consistency is the only way to create the results you want. Focus on the process and the actions.
Disconnect from the results.
If you stay focused on the actions and the process, the results will happen!
Those who have success in any area of life all focus on being consistent every day with the process. They are always asking themselves: “How do I nail the process now so I can experience the end result later.” They are action oriented and process oriented, not goal focused.
If you do the right things consistently the results will catch up. Guaranteed. .
Here’s a quote from Tom Seaver, Baseball Hall of Fame:
“In baseball my theory is to strive for consistency, not to worry about the numbers. If you dwell on statistics you will get shortsighted. If you aim for consistency, the numbers will be there at the end.”
You have to play the game right in life too if you want to win.
I’ll so often have new clients come to me with their goals of “I want to lose 5 kgs” or “I want to be stronger”.
But wait a sec…Where’s the goals for how you want to live? Where is the goal for what time you want to go to bed each night?
Where’s the goal for what you want to do on the weekend? Where’s the goal for how you are going to do your meal plan at 7:30 each night for the next day?
Where’s the goal for the how you are going to stock up your fridge with healthy food for the week on Sunday afternoon?
Goals without processes are meaningless to me. The ones who have success (in any area) are the ones who become obsessed with the process and daily habits. Because doing that is what brings the results.
