High protein quinoa breakfast cereal

April 27, 2016

With the temperature cooling down (here in Sydney, Australia) why not try trading in your usual breakfast oatmeal for higher protein quinoa cereal! It's sooo healthy & super easy to make and takes 5 minutes from start to finish (yes I made quinoa for time this morning at 5am! :)

For this cereal you need to buy quinoa flakes. *You can find these flakes in the cereal section next to the oatmeal. I used almond milk but you can use any milk you like.

To make this even higher protein I added half a scoop of vanilla protein powder after its slightly cooled. It mixes in perfectly & tastes great. To make it lower fat you can replace the coconut milk or almond milk and with oat or rice milk. To make it higher fat you can add peanutbutter or other nut butters.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup dry quinoa flakes

1 cup coconut or almond milk (I used inside out brand)

1 tbsp honey

Fruit or nuts topping of your choice

Instructions:

Mix the flakes with the milk. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Take out and stir. Place back in microwave on high for another 2 minutes.
Stir in the honey and top with your fruit or nuts of choice.
