My TOP 3 Favourite Protein Shake Recipes

June 22, 2014

One of my favourite options for yummy, light, on-the-go meals is a protein shake. They’re easy to make, protein-packed (well, obviously), and if you combine these shakes with other nutritious whole foods like oats, apples, bananas, berries, spinach leaves, green and red powders (and other healthy seeds/powders like linseed, chia, maca etc), coconut cream/milk, almond milk, fruit, nuts and nut butters, etc. then you have a pretty good meal or snack that tastes good and is great convenient, on-the-go nutrition for an active lifestyle like my own.

For all of these recipes I use the Nutribullet blender (which I ADORE…it blends EVERYTHING so well) but any good quality blender should suffice. I also use the BodyScience WPI all natural whey protein as this is very pleasant tasting protein powder with no artificial sweeteners, flavours or chemicals added. Each serving of their protein servings is 2 scoops, which equals 27 grams of protein. You can adjust the recipes below to your protein powder serving portions accordingly.

Berry Protein Shake

Ingredients:
2 scoops protein powder
½ cup almond milk
½ cup Greek Yogurt
1 cup frozen mixed berries
2 tablespoons immureds BSC powder (I also use beetroot powder or other high-antioxidant red powders sometimes)
-1 tablespoon chia seeds

-Blend together and add ice cubes if desired.

Coconut/Blueberry Protein Shake

Ingredients:
2 scoops protein powder
1 tablespoon maca powder
¼ cup coconut milk (I use the Ayam brand; it’s all natural)
½ cup pineapple juice
¼ cup coconut water
½ cup frozen blueberries
½ cup frozen pineapple pieces

-Blend together and add ice cubes if desired.

Green nutty protein shake

Ingredients:
-2 scoops protein powder
-2 tablespoons immugreens BSC powder (I also like Vital Greens powder)
-1 green apple chopped
-Handful of spinach leaves
- 2 tablesppons mixed nut butter (I love the woolworth’s home brand one)
-1/2 cup oats
-2/3 cup water

-Blend together and add ice cubes if desired.

Hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Please add your own protein shake recipes in the comment section below. I love trying new shake recipes.
